It's Morphin Time

1,349 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: The Invasion
Location: Entrance Hall, Earth Patrol Base 47
Timeline: 1600 Hours, 3rd November 2050

Damien shifted uncomfortably in the patrol uniform he was stood in. The grey combat pants and BDU top were uncomfortable, feeling a little too loose for his liking. The armour over his torso didn't help either, and the shoulder pads just made it worse. However, the Patrol Force helmet with the visor covering the top half of his face helped keep him incognito, which he needed for the plan to work.

"In position." He said, raising his left wrist to jaw level to speak into the wrist band "Where you hiding, pinky?"

Kilena sighed to herself unable to believe that Damien had persuaded Hendrix into this operation and roped people into it. Kilena thought it wiser to hold back and think things through but Damien seemed intent. “Where you told me to.” She hissed back.

"Good." He said "Let's keep this straight forward. Bad guys show up. We kick bad guys collective asses. Bad guys never show their ugly mugs again."

"Excuse me?" A young man spoke from behind Damien "I'm looking to apply and can't find-"

"Sorry, we're in the middle of moving some pretty sensitive equipment." Damien cut him off, turning to face the young man and spinning him back towards the door "If you want to call someone about how to apply, go to www dot patrol force earth dot gov slash something something something... Yeah, that makes sense. Sort of..."

"Oh..Okay then..." The young man said, slightly confused as he walked off.

As Damien watched the man turn to walk away, he heard a sound from behind him. Turning, he saw several of Roluga's foot soldiers stood there, around the armoured figure himself. The foot soldiers began attacking the various EPF personnel around the room. A pair of the soldiers charged Damien, swinging a punch he blocked before kicking him in the crotch, taking him to the ground.

"Going to feel that tomorrow..." Damien said, turning to look at the young man "This would be a good time for you to get out of here..."

"Too late." A voice called and appeared Lunandria. She wore the same outfit as before and a bigger smirk on her face. She wasn't going to lose again to the pesky humans. She had been hanging around awhile, the benefits of looking human. People ignored the obvious.

"God damn it. Not really got a lot of options here.." Damien said, twisting his left wrist, the blaster appearing in place of his wrist band in a star of red energy as his crystal appeared in his right hand in the same effect "I guess that means it's Morphin Time!"

He slammed the crystal into the blaster, pushing it forward to engage it before pulling the trigger. A star of red energy appeared in front of him, quickly moving backwards to leave him in his body suit.

"Red Ranger Power!" He called, a second star appearing in front of his face before moving backwards to envelope his head, forming his helmet as he stepped forward, pointing at Lunandria "You should really leave now. Only warning."

A group of the drones charged at Damien, beginning to attack him without hesitation

"You know, this really doesn't feel like a fair fight..." Damien said as he flipped over a drone that was swinging at him before kicking it in the back "Pinky, I could use some help here..."

"Already here." A voice called from above as a flash of pink surrounded a person and the pink ranger appeared next to him. "You take the twenty on the left? I take the twenty on the right and whoever wins faces her?" Kilena asked as Lunandrai stood there carrying what looked like a crystal staff that seemed familiar to Kilena.

"Let's do it. Yippie ki yae mother-" Damien began as he charged in to punch a drone in the face, before quickly correcting himself "Mother's good. Mother's good..."

Kilena looked at the red ranger, her teammate clearly confused and annoyed at him before she started on her lot of drones. The things were barely foot soldiers but they did pack a nasty punch if they got to you. Kilena turned as she saw Lunandria point her staff at the red ranger. The woman on autopilot ran at the man sending them to the floor as the blast went above their heads. "Pay attention." She hissed turning as she got a look at the scene properly.

"Thanks... I think..." Damien said, picking himself up and taking aim with his blaster, firing shots at a few drones as he began to charge forward "Pinkie, take the bitch. I'm going after boss man..."

Damien punched and kicked his way to Roluga. As he reached the blue armoured figure, he stretched his right arm out, his sword appearing in his hand just in time to block a slash down from Roluga.

"Ooh, careful, that will sting if it hits." Damien said, blocking another strike "Too slow."

Roluga let out an angry growl as he took another slash, this one connecting, Damien falling to the ground in a flurry of sparks.

"Yeah... Definitely stings..." Damien groaned as he picked himself back up "Maybe I need a new plan here..."

Kilena landed not far from him and sighed softly and used the man to haul herself up. "Me too." She said not at all sure how her morph had maintained after that strike at her stomach. Lunandria had been pretty assured that she wanted to stab at her. “Thank God for colourful supersuits. Did anyone get the number of that boot?”

"I wish..." Damien said, before snapping his fingers "Of course! Numbers! We need to stop attacking one at a time and go in all at once!" Damien asked, holding a hand out to Kilena "Rangers together?"

Kilena just looked at the hand and rolled her eyes. “Let’s just get rid of these and then we can discuss.” The woman said simply. Wasn’t the time for that kinda conversation at all.

"Yes, ma'am." Damien quipped as his sword materialised once more, Damien withdrawing his crystal from his blaster and inserting it into the sword, jerking it back causing the blade to glow red "What does this button do?"

He charged forward, taking a slash. As he did, a wave of red energy fired out from the sword, taking down a dozen drones.

"...I like this." He said simply looking at the sword. "I could get used to this!"

“Don’t.” Kilena said sharply as a pistol appeared in her hand. A few of the drones fell instantly as a pink flash of energy flew out of them. “This won’t be happening again.”

"And here we go! Solar sabre!" Damien called as he began charging another attack with his sword, slowly lowering it to his side before slashing, a massive red wave firing from it towards Roluga "Final strike!"

The wave made an impact, the armoured figure falling to the floor, struggling to pick himself up.

"This isn't over..." He growled before teleporting away in a flash of blue energy.

"Did you see that?" Damien asked Kilena as he walked over to her "That was so freaking awesome!"

“Of course I did. I am not blind.” She reminded with a small sigh as she depowered and her crystal and morpher disappeared. She was hot and sweaty but felt a bit happier about the situation than she had previously.

"Come on pinky, you got to admit, that was cool." Damien enthused as he powered down "We totally kicked their collected asses!"

"Only just." Kilena reminded with a shake of her head. "We need to be better," She said quickly. It was not an easy system but they were not where they should be. They could not fight alone.

"We will be." He said with a smile "Relax. We've got this."

Kilena just looked at him before waking away. If she she stayed there she would have to be rude and they only had each other right then and there. They needed to work out how to get along or else.
