Mission:
The Invasion
Location: Hospital
Timeline: 14:00 Hours, 15th November 2050
It had been a few hours since Ellie had been 'debriefed' about the circumstances of their crash landing and subsequent engagement with the Kaldor soldiers. Most of the questions had been pleasant. One or two hadn't. She figured they had to take it all seriously - after all, she was a Power Ranger now. An actual Power Ranger.
Sitting in the hospital room next to the occupied bed, she stared silently out of the window. Her hand absently played with the new morpher that was wrapped around her wrist. She wasn't sure she'd ever get used to it being there; nor the responsibility it carried. It was scary to think she was now destined to be some sort of great hero or protector. She was just a girl who worked in the juice bar.
Maybe that was why she was sat next to the sleeping Kilena. Perhaps she was looking for comfort, or for a kindred spirit. She wasn't sure. She just hoped the pink ranger would wake up and make sense of it all for her.
Kilena could feel that someone was in the room with her and it was not the red ranger who had been kicked out when she had woken up from statis. It was someone else, she winced as she woke up and turned to see the woman who they... no Damien had kidnapped and had become a ranger beside them. "Hello..." Kilena murmured dreamily.
"Oh!" Ellie almost jumped. She sat forward in the little chair and grabbed hold of Kilena's hand to give it a squeeze. "Hey! You're awake. You had us worried for a while there."
“Did Damien not say I was okay. The statis unit healed me loads. I just need time.” Kilena mused looking down at the hand in hers and squeezed back. “He isn’t prone to being a team player sometimes but the morphing energy should heal me up nicely now.” Kilena had spent a lot of time researching after they became rangers in the forbidden areas of the archives to find out stuff.
"Oh." Ellie sat back a little. "Sorry, I'm new to all of this. I didn't even know there was such a thing as morphing energy until yesterday." She tried to smile encouragingly. "Glad you're doing okay though."
“Me too. It is Ellie right? Ellie I am high on drugs but I am really proud that you picked up that crystal.” Kilena said brightly. She was happy that the woman had stepped up to be the green ranger.
"Oh. Yeah." Ellie lifted the morpher to show her, feeling both giddy awkwardness and nerves.
“Not many in green.” The pink ranger said wishing she did not have to keep everything so hush.
"Could have been worse. Though I keep hearing this means I'm supposed to wear that colour a lot now, right?" she asked, leaning in a bit closer to say it quietly.
"It naturally happens." The woman admitted with a shrug. It was not something she had ever thought about but it seemed to happen a lot that she just happened to pick pink. "I think it's unconscious though... try not to think too much into it." Kilena offered.
"I'll try. Hard not to think about it...being a Ranger..." Ellie shook her head. "Anyway, you don't need me complaining. You're okay, that's the important thing. Getting better. Need me to get you anything? A magazine? Better food?"
Kilena shook her head. She was more than okay now that she could focus a little better and was less likely to react and want to throw up from the oxygen they had to high for her. "I think I am going to be okay." She assured quickly. She was saying it more for her teammate than her but she was trying to be positive.
"Good." Ellie let herself relax a little. "I don't think I can do this on my own..." She'd been part of the 'team' barely a few days and aside from Kilena she really only knew Damien, and he wasn't the sort of guy she'd be able to properly talk to. Girl-to-girl.
"You are not alone. You are never alone again." Kilena said simply. How was the girl from KO-35, high on pain medication such a good counsellor? "You will be okay I promise. We are all in this together. The Morphing Grid chooses us for a reason. Sometimes it takes awhile for it to happen."
"I hope it was a good reason. And not just here to make sure everyone eats a good meal every once in a while." She sat back in the little chair next to the bed. "I can't believe everything that happened. How...how did it happen for you? The first time, I mean."
“Stabby McStabface and her red friend attacked base. We picked them up to keep them safe and now the rest is history.” Kilena said softly before sitting up. “That would still be an excellent reason to be a ranger.” Kilena would be happy to have a friend who made sure she did that.
"Yeah. Green Ranger: With the cosmic power to check if you wanted a shake with your burger..." Ellie sighed. It was so far beyond anything she'd ever prepared for in her life. Responsibility far outreaching her expectations. She'd actively tried to escape the expectations of her parents, only to walk into this. "Damien didn't really say much other than to keep it secret. I think he felt a bit guilty that I was even there in the first place."
“Well he did kind of kidnap you.” Kilena said with a laugh. “And do not ever feel sorry for him as he only has himself to blame for it. He could have turned around.” The pink ranger leant out and touched the others woman’s hand. “It will be okay. I have a feeling it will all work out.”
