Personal History Travis was born in Ocean Bluff but his family soon relocated to Blue Bay Harbor to be closer to family. There is where he spent most of his time, hanging out by the beach and getting to know many of the locals.

By the time he was nearly 18, Travis was still undecided in his life, and was working on a dive tours boat in BBH when a call came out that a local ferry had run aground about 15 knots off shore and was sinking fast. Every boat in the area mobilized, and Travis was engulfed in his first rescue mission.

Upon arrival at the scene, they started pulling in survivors when he heard a woman claim her 5 year old couldn't swim and was drifting away from the area. Without thinking, Travis jumped in and swam over to her. He'd been a swimmer most of his life and had even free himself from rip currents before, so while tiring, the swim was nothing.

Grabbing the little girl and getting her to hold onto him tightly, Travis swam back to the nearest boat. What he thought was his boss's boat was actually a Coast Guard rescue boat that had come on scene from one of the nearby Cutters.

Inspired by Travis's resolve and ingenuity, he was invited to a special team of the Coast Guard, even though he wasn't yet 18. By the time he'd reached 20 he'd been made leader of the Blue Bay Harbor US Coast Guard rescue team.
